Student Safety is Our Primary Concern
You may have noticed that a new fence is being constructed on the east side of Lakeview. Over the last few years, we have had a number of problems with people ignoring our school perimeter during school hours. It has been concerning to all of us that anyone could wander into the back of our school grounds during recess. Recently, the district School Board voted for us to get a fence to clearly distinguish what is Lakeview school property and what is the Lakeview City Park.
The fence will include multiple gates which will be locked during school hours and unlocked after school until the next morning. Community members will still be able to come through the gates onto the school grounds when school is not in session. However, during the hours of 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, the gates will be locked to create a clear school perimeter. Our faculty and staff, along with our PTA and School Community Council, have all been supportive of these changes, which will help us improve student safety. We appreciate your support of this change as well.
