Mr. Barker wanted to share one last thought as he completed his last week at Lakeview. He wanted to remind us that, “Attendance does matter.” It might not seem like being a few minutes late each day, or missing one day every week or two, will really make a difference in your child’s education but as you can see on the chart below, those minutes/days can really add up.
Missing one day every two weeks can add up to four weeks of lost instruction over the course of a year. Arriving just ten minutes late each morning is the equivalent of nearly a week and a half in a year.
Of course, we understand that there are valid reasons why a child might be tardy or absent (and if your child is sick please keep them home) but remember attendance truly does matter.
