Vision Screening September 12th
It has been estimated that as much as 80% of learning occurs visually. Vision disorders are the fourth most common childhood disability in the United States today, with one in four children having an undiagnosed vision problem. Our school is committed to ensuring that all students are healthy and ready to learn.
In support of our commitment to promoting healthy learners, our school nurse along with trained volunteers will be conducting a school-wide remote vision screening on the morning of September 12th. If your child wears glasses or contact lenses, ask them to wear them on the day of the evaluation.
A child’s vision can change as they grow, so it is important that students receive regular exams to identify those who may need to be seen by an eye care professional.
Early detection and treatment of a vision problem are critical to your child’s educational success, health, and well-being. You will be notified if your student does not pass the vision screening after the reassessment process.
Although school evaluations are important, a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist is the gold standard.
If you do not want your child to participate, please complete the opt-out form and return it to your child’s teacher by September 12th. We look forward to making sure that all children are healthy and ready to learn.
